We recently celebrated our centenary year with a party at our Ventura House office for staff and clients.
This provided an opportunity to reflect on the firm`s history while enjoying a glass or two of Prosecco over lunch, and looking forward to the future.
Rutherfords was started by William Rutherford who was a local man born in Kingsbury in 1876, married at Dosthill Church, who worked in local businesses before starting a career in the law working at Argyles & Sons and then setting up his own practice in 1925.
Rutherfords Solicitors main practice areas became commercial, residential, personal injury and private client. Rutherfords started advising on insurance and public prosecution matters after World War II. Key clients were the Department for Trade and Industry, Health & Safety Executive and Royal & Sun Alliance. Partners were panel members handling defence insurance work and medical claims for the the Medical Defence Union.
The firm is proud of its historical connection with Drayton Manor Park since its inception as a theme park in 1948 until the recent sale.
Our offices were based at Lady Bank in Tamworth opposite the castle grounds before moving to our current modern office at Ventura Park in September 2016
The firm expanded to 14 partners in the 1990`s with branch offices in Sutton Coldfield, Castle Bromwich and a separate lettings agency in Victoria Road.
In more recent times the firm has consolidated its base in Tamworth, evolving from a traditional partnership to becoming a limited liability partnership in October 2011.
